Older young people, 13+, attend a weekly Social Skills group during term-time. This group (for all Gloucestershire based units) actively addresses issues such as ‘running away’, ‘offending’, ‘sexual relationships’, ‘having a baby’, and ‘being restrained’.

The group is run by Steve Miller and provides a safe and open forum for young people to talk about things that matter to them, both as teenagers and teenagers in care. The group allows young people to disclose their own personal experiences safely, and to challenge adults and each other within a safe and controlled environment. It also allows them to explore and reflect on their own prejudices and presumptions. In this group young people can not only challenge themselves and their ideas, but also grow emotionally in the process.
