Marlowe Child & Family Services are fully aware of legal and moral responsibilities towards their clients, who are some of the most vunerable clients anywhere.

All staff, prior to taking up post, are subject to an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check. These checks are renewed every three years. If any potential member of staff has a criminal record, they are expected to disclose this fully at an interview. This is discussed with them in detail. If the offence was minor, occurred a long time ago and would not expose the children and young people to any risk, they could be offered employment. Anyone with a record of serious offences would not be allowed to work at Marlowe Child & Family Services in any capacity. Marlowe Child & Family Services are exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

All potential staff also must prove their identity prior to taking up post. Similarly, the identity of referees is also checked to ensure they are also bona fide. Recent employers are telephoned and the reasons for leaving checked. All employment gaps are also checked. All posts are subject to a six-month probationary period.

All temporary and agency staff are subject to similar checks as permanent staff.
